Production of documentaries / news - magazines / feature
films from its headquarters in Mumbai, outlying units at New
Delhi, Calcutta and Bangalore. Production of video films for
different Departments / Ministries / Public Sectors of the
Govt. of India. Production of films on Agriculture, Defence
and Family Welfare. Release of films in cinema houses throughout
the country through the theatrical circuit of Films Division
and propagation of the films through other channels.
Supply of prints to the units of the Directorate of Field
Publicity, mobile units of State Governments, National Television
(Doordarshan), Field Units of the Department of Family Welfare,
educational institutions and voluntary organisations.
Release of documentary films and newsreels of State Governments
in lock with Films Division films through Films Division theatrical
circuit. Sale of prints, stock shots, video cassettes and
distribution rights of documentaries and features in India
and abroad. Holding of Mumbai International Film Festival
(MIFF) for documentary, short and animation films once in
two years. Documentaries are produced by Films Division on
a wide range of themes and topics that encompass different
spheres of human activity and endeavour.
Production of animation films:
Rural oriented feature films are produced in Tamil, Telugu,
Kannada, Malayalam, Bengali, Assamese, Oriya and several dialects
of the North Eastern Region and the Southern Region. Films
Division makes use of local talent for script writing and
acting to maintain the flavour of the language and region.
Documentary Film Purchase Commitee :
Some of the films produced by Private agencies are purchased
by Films Division. The purchases are made by pricing committee
on the advice of Government / Documentory Film purchase committee
are constituted by Government with the following as members.
