Rare footage of the olden
times at the click of a mouse! Imagine watching the legendary Kumar
Gandharva singing at the age of twelve! A great task accomplished
by Films Division.’ said eminent filmmaker Dr.Jabbar Patel
while click-launching Films Division’s broadband enabled portal
www.filmsdivision.org. Shri Patel was the guest of honour at the
launch event organised at Films Division Complex, Mumbai.
Shri Dipankar Mukhopadhay, Chief Producer, Films Division said,
‘ One media person told me that FD was sitting on a volcano
of materials and not making the optimum use of it. Is it true
or false—he posed. I say it is definitely false. FD is not
a poor cousin but a part and parcel of the great heritage of Indian
Cinema. And now this immensely rich FD tradition will be accessible
to all living souls of the world.’ Shri Mukhopadhay lauded
the efforts of the FD team for achieving this incredible feat
within a very short period of time.
Earlier, Shri Sanjaya Pattanayak, Director of Administration,
Films Division informed the august audience including media persons
representing most of the frontline publications and prime channels
that FD was the pioneer in this kind of a venture of digitalised
interactive television solutions.
Responding to a query from Shri Ashok Kumar, General Secretary
of the Indian Documentary Producers’ Association, Shri Pattanayak
said, ‘For six months or so our site will be totally free,
but the content will not be downloadable for security reasons.
We are not guided by commercial considerations at all but with
the response over time we will definitely look out for our marketing
options’.
While presenting the site Shri Rajendra Parmar, Co-Founder &
President (operations), Recreate Solutions, a London based export-oriented
company with a major development centre in Mumbai, said that in
the field of international broadband penetration India was not
far behind with Films Division proving to be a very proactive
unit. ‘www.filmsdivision.org is a high intensity visually
attractive site with a most powerful search video facility. You
can select Category or Titles or Directors and you can see the
desired portion of the video by jumping to It.’ he added.
A vote of thanks was given by Shri M Ganesh, Asstt. Director (Costing),
